GENERAL INFORMATION

Southtowns Animal Hospital is a full service facility for small animals. We offer wellness exams, dentistry and surgery, as well as boarding facilities.

The Doctors at Southtowns Animal Hospital see patients by appointment only. We will make every effort to be on time, however emergencies do occur. Delays will be no longer than absolutely necessary.

When you come to the Hospital for your appointment, please keep your pet on a leash or in a carrier while in the Reception area. Some of our patients are afraid of other animals. Sometimes, when a pet is sick, he doesn't want to be friendly with other pets.

ADMISSIONS

If it is necessary for your pet to be admitted to the hospital for treatment, we will provide everything needed for his comfort and care. We have toys and leashes, bowls and blankets here. The entire hospital is climate-controlled year-round.

All cats and dogs are required to be current on vaccinations when admitted to the hospital. This is for their protection as well as the other patients here.

When we are in the hospital, we like to have visitors to help pass the time. Animals do not perceive time the way we do, so, except for very extreme circumstances we ask that you not ask to visit your pet. When you visit your pet he often thinks it is time to go home, and is very sad when left behind. Sometimes a pet is so excited when a visitor comes that he won't rest when he needs to. Visiting your pet can also disturb other pets.

Once your pet's treatment is complete, he will only be released during hospital hours. The veterinary assistants will need to give proper homecare instructions and review any needed medications with you.

EMERGENCIES

During regular office hours emergencies will be given immediate consideration. Please call our office if you have an emergency so we can expect you. After hours, we are affiliated with the Greater Buffalo Veterinary Services, an emergency clinic. Be assured that your pet will receive full attention and intensive care, if needed, by licensed veterinarians and staff

PAYMENT POLICY

We depend on fees to enable us to provide you with a highly qualified professional staff and well-equipped hospital. Unlike human hospitals, we do not receive income from grants, fund drives, or government programs like Medicaid or Medicare.

The doctors and staff make every effort to estimate the cost of planned treatment before providing services, and to advise you of your options. However, the estimate is exactly that, an estimate. The actual cost of services may be greater than the estimate based on the medical needs of your pet. Sometimes your pet's health requires that the treatment plan be changed once admitted. The doctors will make every effort to contact you if this becomes necessary.

We require a deposit of 50% of the estimated fees when your pet is admitted to the hospital for non-elective procedures, and payment-in-full is due upon discharge of your pet from our hospital.

For your convenience we accept MasterCard, Visa and Discover as well as Cash. We also accept CareCredit, a personal line of credit usable for payment of your pet's medical bills.

Payment is expected at the time of service. In order to keep operating costs as low as possible and given that the hospital does not receive any funding outside that of the fees we collect for our services, Southtowns Animal Hospital is not able to extend credit.

If you are interested in pet insurance, you can ask for information at the hospital, or find it at http://petinsurance.com.
