Imagine what your mouth would feel like if
you hadn’t brushed your teeth for several years and then you would have an inkling of
what severe gingivitis is like.
The roots of the teeth are sometimes exposed, which leads to decay at the
roots. These teeth cannot be saved and must be removed. As the infection
worsens, the jawbone is weakened and loss of bone can occur. The teeth
become loose and PAINFUL.
As the bacteria that make up tartar grow and multiply, their waste products
travel thought the entire body, putting your pet at risk for kidney disease,
heart disease and liver disease.
A mouth in this condition needs prompt attention. The gingivitis at this
point cannot be cured but only controlled. Speak to one of our doctors or
veterinary assistants about having your pet’s mouth seen as soon as possible by
calling us.
